How Provider Vetting Works

Understanding our process for verifying service providers in our network

Our Vetting Process

National Service Connect is a referral platform that connects consumers with independent service providers. Before providers can receive referrals through our platform, they must complete our verification process. This page explains what we verify and the limitations of our vetting.

Important: Vetting is conducted at the time a provider joins our network. Credentials can change over time. We recommend consumers independently verify current licenses and insurance before hiring any service provider.

What We Verify

License Verification

For trades requiring state or local licenses (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.), we verify that the provider holds a valid license at the time of enrollment. This includes:

  • Checking license numbers against state licensing board records
  • Confirming the license is active and in good standing
  • Verifying the license covers the services offered
Insurance Validation

We require providers to submit proof of liability insurance. Our validation includes:

  • Reviewing certificates of insurance
  • Confirming coverage amounts meet our minimum requirements
  • Checking that the policy is current at time of enrollment
Background Checks

We conduct background checks on providers as part of our enrollment process:

  • Criminal background screening
  • Identity verification
  • Business registration verification where applicable

Limitations of Our Vetting

While we take reasonable steps to verify providers, consumers should understand the following limitations:

  • Point-in-time verification:Credentials are verified at enrollment. Licenses and insurance can lapse or be revoked after verification.
  • Independent contractors:Providers are independent businesses, not employees of National Service Connect. We do not supervise their work.
  • No guarantee of quality:Vetting verifies credentials, not workmanship quality. We do not guarantee the quality of any provider's work.
  • Consumer due diligence:We recommend consumers independently verify current credentials and check references before hiring.
